Do or die for the Heat in Paarl

Durban – Following a disappointing loss in Johannesburg on Friday, the Durban Heat have an opportunity to revive their Mzansi Super League campaign when they take on the Paarl Rocks at Eurolux Boland Park on Sunday.

The Heat have only got one win from their five games of the campaign and the chances of qualifying for the play-off are becoming more slim, however if they can get a win in the Western Cape they will feel that momentum can build.

A shining light for the Heat was the fact that Morné van Wyk managed to get over that half century mark in their previous game. The veteran showed what he is capable of and will be hoping that the rest of the batting unit can follow on Sunday.

David Miller found a bit of form too on Friday when he scored 30 from 17 balls. The Heat will be eying their Proteas Hashim Amla and Heinrich Klaasen to come good in the second half of the competition.

The Heat's bowling has been the stronger aspect of their game in the competition however in their match in Johannesburg they battled with the ball which put them on the back foot.

There were positives from the loss at the Wanderers and captain Albie Morkel made mention to those.

"I was proud of the guys and how we recovered to still got to 180 odd after losing three early wickets," Morkel said after the game on Friday.

"It's positive that Morné (van Wyk) got some runs and hopefully we can build on those few positives that we have.

"I keep on saying that from a batting perspective we have world class players and I am waiting for them to turn it on."

The Heat will need as many points as possible from their final five games of the competition and Morkel still believes that they are in with a shout of a play-off spot.

"We are still not out of it," he stressed. "We've only played half of our games and if we can get a few wins and a few bonus points we can push for that third spot."

In the previous meeting between the Heat and the Rocks at Kingsmead earlier this week the visitors claimed a DLS influenced victory.

The match at Eurolux Boland Park gets underway at 11am.

Tickets can be purchased at and at Kingsmead Stadium.
