Dolphins fight back on day three in East London

East London - A late afternoon flourish with the ball helped the Hollywoodbets Dolphins remain in their CSA 4-Day Franchise Series clash with the Warriors in East London with the hosts leading by 274 runs going into the final day on Thursday, with just one second innings wicket in hand.

By the time play was called off after a lengthy interruption for bad light at Buffalo Park, the home side was teetering at 163 for nine in their second innings, as the Dolphins continued their spirited fightback.

The Dolphins needed to bat for as long as possible on day three to narrow the deficit that the Warriors had created, and there was a determined effort from the lower order batsmen that took the Dolphins from 269 for seven at the start to 325 all out.

Senuran Muthusamy scored 46 while Prenelan Subrayen made 20 and Keith Dudgeon scores 16.

Going into the third innings of the match the hosts had a lead of 111 runs over the Dolphins with the majority of the third day to bat still.

The innings started well for the Dolphins as they managed to pin the Warriors back with a number of early strikes.

Eathan Bosch accounted for both opening batsmen, while Keith Dudgeon bagged one scalp and Kerwin Mungroo also snared himself a wicket. At a stage the Warriors were 54 for four with a lead of 165.

Subrayen then dismissed Yaseen Vallie with the total on 86. At that stage the lead had grown to 197 with five second innings wickets in the bank for the hosts.

Sinethemba Qeshile and Lesiba Ngoeope put together an allience of 50 before Ngoepe was caught by Marques Ackerman off the bowling of debutant Michael Erlank.

At tea Qeshile and Sisanda Magala pushed the advantage past 250.

After tea the Dolphins struck three times in two overs with Erlank removing Qeshile and then Bosch picking up Magala and Glenton Stuurman in consecutive deliveries.

With the Warriors 163 for nine the players came from the field due to bad light in East London with the home side leading by 274 runs.
