Two big days ahead for Dolphins in Durban

Durban - The Hollywoodbets Dolphins have two big days ahead with 331 runs separating them and the bizhub Highveld Lions with five first innings wickets in hand in their CSA 4-Day Franchise Series clash in Durban on Saturday.

The Lions lost their first wicket of the morning fairly early when Nicky van den Berg fell to a great caught and bowled from Keith Dudgeon for 13.

Dwayne Pretorius followed soon after with the total on 332, caught by wicket-keeper Grant Roelofsen bowled Eathan Bosch.

Bjorn Fortuin and Rassie van der Dussen then added 34 for the seventh wicket before the former was out LBW to Senuran Muthusamy for 15.

Van der Dussen was the next wicket to fall, caught by Sarel Erwee off the bowling of Muthusamy for 69.

Nono Pongolo became Muthusamy’s fourth victim for 11 and Beuren Hendricks was caught and bowled by captain Khaya Zondo for 13.

Malusi Siboto was the not out batsman on 10 and the Lions were all out for 423.

On day one of the clash Dolphins player Vaughn van Jaarsveld was hit in the face fielding at gully and was unable to continue in the match. He was replaced by Marques Ackerman.

It was a tough start for the Dolphins with the bat and they were in trouble early at 21 for two.

Sarel Erwee and Grant Roelofsen both fell cheaply and the Dolphins has to rely on newcomer Ackerman and captain Khaya Zondo to rebuild.

The pair put on 37 before both fell with the score on 58.

Zondo was dismissed for 10 and Ackerman for 33.

Senuran Muthusamy was caught for a duck before Sibz Makhanya and Andile Phehlukwayo took the Dolphins to stumps.

Makhanya finished 16 not out while Phehlukwayo was 17 not out and the Dolphins were 92 for five, still trailing the Lions by 331 runs going into day three.
